York College, founded in 1967, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. York’s academic programs are housed in three schools: The School of Arts & Sciences, The School of Business and Information Systems, and The School of Health Sciences and Professional Studies. Over sixty baccalaureate programs from across a variety of disciplines, including accounting, aviation management, business, computer science, journalism, social work, teacher education, a dual BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy, and one of the top-ranked nursing programs in New York State, provide students with opportunities to study liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs. The College also offers five graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, and Social Work.
Located in Queens, the most ethnically diverse county in New York State, the College enrolls over 6,400 students from over 95 nations. Nine out of ten students are members of a racial/ethnic minority group, and more than half of the degree-seeking undergraduates are the first in their families to pursue higher education.
The 50-acre campus encompasses seven buildings, including science and computer labs, music and television studios, a Performing Arts Center, and a Physical Education Center. Seven major construction projects were recently completed, with more scheduled for the future. In addition, its neighborhood is at the center of a renaissance fueled by economic revitalization.
Reporting directly to the President, the Provost is a member of senior executive management at the College and serves on the President’s Cabinet. As a high-level executive and the Chief Academic Officer of the College, the Provost has broad supervisory responsibilities. The Provost participates in the development, evaluation, and administration of College policy and the advancement of the College's strategic priorities. The Provost incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire resources. In addition, the Provostdevelops and ensures adherence to the academic affairs budget and participates in the development of the budget for the College as a whole.
The Provost ensures that teaching and research at the College meet the highest academic standards and that academic programs are supported, strengthened, and developed to attract and retain students. Supervising all matters relating to curriculum and instruction, the Provost establishes priorities and plans for program development, faculty recruitment, and development.
The Provost supports the vision of the College’s Strategic Plan and provides academic leadership that advocates for excellence in teaching, research and service. The Provost leads the College's efforts to enhance student retention and success, engages students in intentional interactions, and assures overall institutional effectiveness. The Provost supports the College’s enrollment management process by contributing insights into the College’s course and programmatic offerings.
As the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost promotes York College's academic vision across and beyond the campus and contributes to building the institution's academic reputation and regional visibility through dynamic and strategic leadership of three schools: Arts and Sciences; Business and Information Systems; and Health Sciences and Professional Programs. Overseeing the Division of Academic Affairs, the portfolio also includes the Library, the Registrar, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Academic Advisement and Scholarship Center, and Undergraduate Research Programs, as well as Accelerate, Complete, and Engage (ACE) program, Honors, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Educational Technologies (CTLET), the Collaborative Learning Center, and College Now. The Provost is responsible for personnel, budget, operations, and communications for the Division.
The Provost participates in University-wide planning and academic initiatives; capitalizes on opportunities for academic collaborations across the University; supports collaborative efforts between York College and its principal feeder community colleges; collaborates with administrators and faculty on alumni and community engagement initiatives; expedites the expansion of public and private support for faculty research, scholarships, and institutional priorities; strengthens the College's connection with New York City Schools (K-12), especially the secondary and high schools affiliated with York College; and creates select Masters programs. These responsibilities are carried out within the context of a strong system of shared governance.
Performs other duties as requested by the President.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

The salary range for this appointment is $200,000 to $225,000.
