Digital Journalist
Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a Digital Journalist in the Video Production Services department. This position is responsible for creating video news stories of university happenings, faculty, staff and student profiles, and university programs.
Duties include but are not limited to: understanding story strategy in relation to the University's mission and vision, identifying compelling characters and elements necessary to effectively tell a multimedia story; organizing and preparing all materials needed for writing, transcribing, outlining, pre-producing and producing the story; working closely with social media coordinator to capture on video and in packaged video stories the happenings of CCU; providing exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; establishing effective relationships with university stakeholders including faculty, staff and students to be "in the know" about university stories; responsible for dissemination of video content produced - including, but not limited to, embedding multimedia files to the University website and social media channels; and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: a High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Experience developing video news stories. Experience developing video pieces for the web and social media outlets. A successful candidate must possess skills in the operation of audio and video production equipment; excellent and proven writing, video shooting and editing skills; possess and demonstrate excellent video storytelling skills. A successful candidate must also have the ability to incorporate sound journalistic principles and critical thinking skills for the development and dissemination of video news stories in traditional and emerging technological forms; considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community; the ability to translate technical information into verbiage that is understood by the general public; the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
