Director of Payroll
Coastal Carolina University is seeking applications for the following position: Director of Payroll. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance and University Controller, this position is responsible for the operational management of the payroll process.
Duties include, but are not limited to: overseeing of the payment of employee wages; maintaining deduction and remittance of taxes and benefits; preparing and filing annual W-2 tax forms in accordance with IRS regulations; developing and managing the time collection process; working collaboratively with other departments on campus (Human Resources, Financial Services, Information Technology); participating in the year end annual audit; and supervising departmental staff of 4 employees.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field is required. At least five (5) years of experience in accounting and finance and one (1) year of related payroll experience are also required. Master’s Degree in accounting or related field is preferred. CPA, CFE, and/or CPP are preferred. A successful candidate must possess basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices; knowledge of payroll policies and procedures at CCU; must have the ability to work with numbers accurately; ability to interpret and apply accounting procedures and regulations; and the ability to communicate CCU policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and students.
