Coastal Carolina University seeks candidates for the following position:

Grants Business Assistant

Duties will include, but may not be limited to: maintaining an internal accounting for multiple Principal Investigators (PI) to track all grant and contract revenues and expenditures; identifying appropriate grant accounts to be assigned for personnel transactions, labor/time sheets, travel, credit cards, motor vehicles, postage, supply and equipment purchases; managing internal documentation related to grant-funded positions; serving as the research buyer to make purchases, as needed, for PI’s across the University; reconciling internal accounting with institutional records and generating reports; and assisting in the provision of faculty training’s and informational events; attending professional development meetings, conferences and workshops; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A high school diploma and experience in entry-level accounting or bookkeeping are required. A Bachelor’s degree in related field including accounting, business management or quantitative science is preferred. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for required work experience. Accounting, numerical skills, ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills are required. A demonstrated proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, Adobe and Microsoft Office is required. An attention to detail and deadlines as well as the ability to work independently with a diverse group of PIs and student researchers is required. A working knowledge of standard computer tools, the ability to learn university policies/procedures with minimal training, the ability to learn new accounting software is desired.

Lead Teacher

Duties include but are not limited to: planning, coordinating and supervising day to day operations of the center to ensure safety and well- being of children as well as maintaining compliance with policies, procedures and regulations; in collaboration with the other 3, 4, and Multi-age classroom teachers, developing and coordinating a developmentally appropriate scope and sequence curriculum for the academic year and summer programs; administering and coordinating the responsibilities of student workers, graduate assistants, and pre-service teacher internships so that their work enriches the early childhood learning experiences, and facilitating the effective operations of the Center; understanding and complying with the standards and regulations required by the Department of Social Services (DSS), and The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC); developing ongoing individual communication with parents and a weekly newsletter outlining the student learning goals and learning experiences designed to accomplish the identified goals; collaborating with the Budget Administrator to identify and maintain balanced costs associated with salaries, supplies, tuition, scholarships, enrollment, advertisements, and professional development opportunities; conducting monthly formative feedback and an annual individual staff evaluation of each individual employee by providing constructive suggestions and specific improvement goals; responsible for the instructional planning and teaching for one of the classrooms during the morning sessions, and then overseeing the work of teaching assistants during the afternoon sessions; preparing and maintaining or directing preparation of attendance, activity, planning, accounting and personnel reports and records for state officials and agencies; obtaining NAEYC accreditation; attending relevant continuing education classes, workshops and seminars in accordance with State of South Carolina and NAEYC guidelines for childhood education professionals, including a yearly seminar on EpiPen training; ensuring all Pre-School staff achieve and maintain required CEU’s; completing and properly maintaining all required paperwork and record keeping on a timely basis; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: An earned bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience with children between the ages of 3 to 5 are required. M.Ed. in early childhood, child development, or early literacy development is preferred. A successful candidate must have knowledge and understanding of child development; excellent oral, written and IT communication skills; excellent inter-personal skills, including a willingness to accept positive criticism; high levels of commitment to high standards, motivation, energy and enthusiasm; and excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. A successful candidate must possess potential for leadership in program planning or in professional organizations.

Teacher - Multi Ages

Duties include but are not limited to: developing and delivering a curriculum founded on the center’s philosophy as well as following childcare regulations and NAEYC and South Carolina Early Learning standards; creating positive learning environments including resources based on child-directed learning; developing strategies to guide positive children’s behavior; building good, open communication with children, families and staff; observing and recording children’s growth, development and behavior using electronic portfolios; ensuring the learning environment is clean, hygienic and safe; helping develop teaching goals for the center and its teachers; undertaking administrative tasks as required; and performing other duties as assigned.
