Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the position of Internal Communications Coordinator (Public Information Coordinator) in University Communication.

Duties include, but are not limited to: serving as University Editor; proofing and editing communication materials that are received in the Office of University Communication or developed internally by University Communication; rewriting communication pieces to meet professional standards, following Associated Press style requirements; managing the university proofing process to include, but not limited to, taking in and logging editing jobs, communicating the status with requestors, determining other University Communication team members who need to review submissions, saving and archiving completed jobs; authoring/co-authoring various written projects, as assigned, which includes, but not limited to, letters, online web content and magazine articles; authoring, editing and distributing university wide email communications and emergency messaging to the internal campus community; writing, publishing and distributing the University's faculty/staff online monthly newsletter; editing and posting the University's electronic board campus messages; providing exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or a related field and at least two (2) years of related experience are required. Editorial experience in news, public relations or marketing is preferred. A successful candidate should possess excellent and proven writing and editing skills; must possess and demonstrate extensive knowledge of communication strategies that incorporate sound journalistic principles for the dissemination of information in traditional and emerging technological forms; have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the media, general public and the campus community; must have the ability to translate technical material to language which is comprehensible to the general public; possess the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines; and serve as an effective team member in the division and university.

Public Information Coordinator (BC20/138241) full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Primary work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University. Occasional week-end and evening work; and occasional overnight travel may be required.
