Coastal Carolina University seeks candidates for the following position:
IT Network Support Specialist
Duties include, but are not limited to: supporting both campus and remote-campus cabling infrastructure, including a wide variety of local area network equipment and software; installing, terminating, repairing and certifying all networking cabling; performing primary network system administration on network systems/servers as needed including NACs, switches, routers, and wireless controllers, equipment; installing, configuring and repairing, as needed, all campus networking cabling and hardware; assisting with troubleshooting or installing television cable and wiring, maintaining equipment; performing system maintenance (including IP TV) for various departments and University Stakeholders; assisting with maintaining or creating documentation; assisting with cross-training colleagues when directed; assisting with network and telecommunication growth and hardware transitions; identifying, troubleshooting and resolving hardware-, software- and network-related problems encountered by end-users of the University network, including but not limited to, Card Readers, Camera Systems, and new computer technology; maintaining current knowledge of network wiring standards as well as national state, and local fire codes; maintaining current knowledge of cable wiring as well; maintaining effective technical documentation on hardware and software network configuration and adhering to change control policies; assisting supervisor with improving operational procedures, processes, and standards as well as change management, in alignment and collaboration with ITS goals and objectives to advance the University mission; assisting in monitoring of campus network system to ensure optimal operation; and providing exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. A successful candidate must have good working knowledge of network architecture and possess knowledge of computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging and maintenance techniques.
