Law Enforcement Officer - CaptainCoastal Carolina University
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Captain (Law Enforcement Officer III) in the Department of Public Safety.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: enforcing Coastal Carolina University rules and regulations; enforcing State of South Carolina and local laws and statutes for the preservation of peace and protection of life and property; serving in the capacity of the Investigative Captain; performing and overseeing others in all duties involved in the investigation and prosecution of crimes; and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED), two (2) years of law enforcement supervisory experience, and two (2) years of criminal investigative experience are required. Must be a certified police officer in the state of South Carolina. Incumbent must have a valid driver's license. Bachelor's degree and at least eight (8) years of law enforcement supervisory experience is preferred. A successful candidate must have the ability to approach/respond to situations that arise in accordance with all laws, policies and general orders; ability to supervise others and investigate alleged crimes against persons and/or property; possess good computer, verbal and written skills; ability to interact successfully within a diverse academic community; an understanding that many young adults require guidance and tolerance rather than sterner measures; ability to act as court liaison with appropriate judicial and administrative agencies; prepare and assign cases; oversee the collection of evidence and statements; testify before court and grand jury; and become familiar with the department's Mission Statement and strive to incorporate the Mission Statement in their daily contacts with faculty, staff and students.
