Coastal Carolina University seeks candidates for the following position of System Engineer/Manager 

Duties include, but are not limited to: Developing and coding (using server/client side and scripting programming languages such as PHPSQL Queries, HTMLXML, Java, JavaScript, C++, Unibasic, VB, etc…), new systems or modifying existing systems/solutions to achieve optimal functionalities and process enablement; testing all changes by using the appropriate moderately complex test scenarios to ensure all delivered solutions work as expected and errors are handled in a meaningful way; consulting with users and departments, various programmers, administrators, project managers and other IT professionals on issues such as system design, limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, interfaces and maintenance on a limited basis; participating in preparation of needs assessments, planning and project documentation, communication, quality and risk management, and requirements tracking; analyzing moderately complex technology needs and system requirements to determine feasibility of design (or redesign), technical specifications, and test plans within time and other constraints; documenting code and associated processes by adhering to development methodologies, adding system diagrams, code comments and appropriate documentation to various knowledge-base system(s) to simplify code maintenance and to improve support; developing and maintaining business intelligence and analytical tools for automation, monitoring, capacity planning and data warehousing integration; testing scenarios to ensure all delivered solutions work as expected and errors are handled in a meaningful way; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Four years of related work experience with computer systems and business applications including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERPs such as Banner, Colleagues, etc.) or equivalent enterprise solutions, LMSs, and Database applications is required. Hands-on experience supporting or working with Business Intelligence tools and demonstrable experience with SQL Query writing and analyzing also required. Three (3) years of experience with Database development and management and access software tools such as SQL as well as sever/client side (and scripting) programming languages such as PHPSQL Queries, HTML, Java, JavaScript, C++, Unibasic, VB are preferred. Successful candidate must also be results-orientated, driven, and a team player; must possess excellent problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, communication as well as coding skills.

Must possess in-depth proficiency and experience with the developmental cycle, implementation (including custom programming), production, support and tuning enterprise system applications and business intelligence reporting environments while supporting the integration of those systems with other applications. In addition, the successful candidate must have and in-depth working knowledge with configuring applications software and have the ability to rapidly learn new programming languages. Working across functions to re-engineer and/or streamline processes and procedures in the context of fully utilizing system features/functions data extractions, rebuilding business processes, and automating them. Professional experience integrating open source and/or commercial systems using APIs and/or RESTful web services is preferred.
