Dixon School District's Early Learning Center is advertising for a Child Care Director.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Classroom Instructional Responsibilities
- Establishes a daily schedule of activities to foster developmentally appropriate physical, social and emotional growth.
- Plans and implements daily individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, cognitive and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
- Promotes sound nutrition and healthy hygiene practices, including meals and refreshments, practices in personal cleanliness and self-care and picking up and putting away materials.
- Supervises, guides and models appropriate behavior and teaching techniques for teacher assistant and volunteers under her/his supervision.
- Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid overstimulation and fatigue.
- Maintains a cooperative with the principal, Primary Caregiver, volunteers, parents, and district staff in planning and implementing classroom and program activities.
- Communicates positively and effectively with parents, children, colleagues, and other agency personnel, while maintaining confidentiality in all job related areas.
- Develops family partnership agreements and encourages parents to involve themselves in children’s educational activities and to participate in the program as volunteers and substitutes.
- Provides a supportive inclusive environment for children with special needs ensuring their needs are met. Assisting children and families with establishing individual growth plan development and implementation that includes scheduled conferences and consistent communication.
- Utilizing the Montana Early Learning Standards, maintains accurate and current assessment information noting child’s progress across all developmental domains utilizing a portfolio to maintain anecdotal notes and/or developmental benchmarks.
- Maintain a productive and age appropriate classroom climate for students through a consistent, positive and disciplined learning environment.
- Other responsibilities deemed necessary and appropriate by administration.
2. Educational and Development Evaluations
- Utilizing the Montana Early Learning Standards, collaborates with parents, staff and other professionals to assess each enrolled child and tracks growth toward developmental goals.
- Works with regional supports to supply families with resource information and personal contact when appropriate or advised.
- Works with other members of the Early Learning Center staff in sharing concerns and implementing developmentally appropriate instructional and/or behavioral plans.
- Observes children for any suspected or disclosed signs of abuse or neglect and reports accurate information to supervisor and/or the State of Montana central intake.
- Observes children to detect any illnesses, injury, emotional disturbance, learning disorder, speech problems or other special need and reports these signs to the proper team leader for further evaluation.
- Collaborates with school Special Education Teacher, preschool teacher and regional specialists in the Child Find process of identifying children requiring special services.
3. Continuing Education and Program Development
- Participates in training opportunities identified in the Best Beginnings STARS to Quality Incentive Program, Director requirements.
- Using the guidelines in the Best Beginnings STARS to Quality Incentive Program, enhances program quality by participating in evaluation of self and program; attends training (locally and out-of-town) as applicable.
- Provides training to Primary Caregivers, aides, volunteers and substitutes to enhance their ability to plan activities, complete lesson plans, and carry out activities with children and communicate with guardians.
- Attends program staff meetings and other meetings as required.
4. Record Keeping
- Maintains records on each child, including assessment results, attendance, goals for each child, results of individualized activities, nutritional reports and daily logs which are available to the coordinator, principal, state evaluators and STARS consultants.
- Works with Early Learning Center Coordinator and Primary Caregiver to maintain all program forms applicable to job role (daily plans, parent conferences, attendance records, nutrition records, billing, etc.) and submitting such forms to designated persons in a timely manner.
- Support families with the Best Beginning Child Care Scholarship Process.
5. Food and Nutrition
- Serves meals and refreshments to children. Ensures program staff prepare, distribute and/ or clean up food preparation and serving areas.
- Attends required CACFP food safety training and required STARS food safety training.
- Meals are served as outlined in the CACFP meal-time philosophy.
6. Classroom Cleaning
- Cooperatively works with Early Learning Center staff and volunteers to maintain a clean, safe, healthy, attractive learning environment.
- Change diapers as needed.
- Maintain a diaper changing log.
Salary: Depends on experience.
