Full-Time position – 260 days annually Medical/Dental/Vision/Vacation/Retirement Benefits $18.32 to 20.40 DOE
Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Physically able to perform the tasks required. Custodial work experience required. Knowledge and ability to operate power equipment. Demonstrate aptitude for the tasks involved. Ability to work independently and demonstrate dependability in work attendance. Pass a post-offer employment physical. TITLE: CUSTODIAN SUMMARY: Maintain building in a clean, sanitary, warm, attractive, and functional order.
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance & Operations and/or Custodial Supervisor TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Twelve months per year (2080 hours annually) or length otherwise determined by the Superintendent or his designee.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluations of Classified Personnel, by the Manager of Maintenance Operations or his designee. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: General Responsibilities: Maintain building in a clean, attractive, and functional order; establish and maintain effective relationship with school staff, students, and other district users. Maintain appropriate physical condition and health status necessary to perform assigned duties and responsibilities. Maintain grooming and attire appropriate to district standards; represent the district in a professional and business-like manner. Be cooperative and courteous with district personnel and the public.
Essential Duties: 1. Sweep, mop, scrub, and finish floors; dust, wash, and polish furniture, woodwork, and metalwork; empty and clean waste receptacles; wash windows and walls. 2. Clean and sanitize rest rooms, dressing rooms, shower rooms, drinking fountains, kitchens; maintain overall sanitary conditions of the facility. 3. Maintain clean and attractive sidewalks and entrances. 4. Move and arrange furniture and equipment, when necessary. 5. Clean and maintain light fixtures; replace lamps in fixtures as needed, and as safety procedures allow. 6. Replenish custodial supplies. 7. Maintain the security of buildings; turn off lights, lock doors and windows; maintain awareness of unauthorized persons on or about the premises. 8. Operate power cleaning equipment. 9. Report any safety, health, fire, or maintenance hazards. 10. Assist with special events held at the facility, as approved and assigned by supervisor. 11. Maintain records and submit reports as required. 12. Operate and maintain equipment as required; insure its safe and proper use; protect the district equipment and supplies against loss, theft, and abuse. 13. Replace paper towel dispensers, pencil sharpeners, toilet paper dispensers, and soap dispensers as needed. 14. Paint interior of buildings as assigned. 15. Obtain and maintain any licenses or certificates necessary to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities. 16. Comply with all safety regulations and rules of the district and other regulatory agencies. 17. Perform all assigned duties in a professional and good workmanship manner. 18. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
