POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our team of professionals.
Duties Include:
- Provides oversight, monitoring and management of quality and clinical activities at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM). Provides operations and administration direction.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates the HWCOM Quality and Patient Safety Plan.
- Establishes performance measures against industry benchmarks. Provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, and continually monitoring and evaluating the quality and patient safety plan.
- Develops and implements interdepartmental polices and standard operating procedures.
- Develops, and provides training programs for staff to achieve targeted levels of performance on national quality, safety, and efficiency measures. Facilitates team or individual data collection, analysis, reporting, presentation, and corrective action determination.
- Works with HWCOM Information Technology to develop disease-based focus studies and performance metrics as well as decision support tools such as best practice order sets, medications and testing, patient action plans and report cards; and develop patient access to self-management education tools.
- Works with HWCOM Information Technology and the Practice/Site Managers to 1) ensure optimal use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to track, monitor, and store patient information and extract outcome measures; and 2) develop self-directed education opportunities for staff using mixed media.
- Develops training materials for clinical practice staff regarding the use of the EHR to ensure full and timely capture of care management data to produce quality, safety, efficiencies, and clinical outcome reports.
- Educates staff on quality management principles. Participates in the orientation of new staff.
- Advises senior management in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
- Recommends and implements procedures and practices to ensure best practices and excellent patient care safety and quality of service.
- Manages resources and administrative processes to ensure that the goals and objectives of the project, program, service, or function are accomplished.
- Participates as a member of various divisions, campus, and university committees, and represents HWCOM at various community and student functions.
- Performs related duties as required and directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.
