Lateral and Entry Level Police Officers

Lynden Civil Service Commission will be establishing eligibility lists for the positions of Lateral and Entry Level Police Officers. The list will be used to fill vacancies occurring for one year from the date the list is certified. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage for the employee, spouse and dependents with minimal employee contribution. Employees receive vacation, sick leave, holidays, and retirement benefits.

General Purpose: Performs police patrol, investigations, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities. 

Essential Duties: Individuals in this classification perform a variety of specialized work in police department operations, carrying out duties in conformance with federal, State, County and City laws, and ordinances. Incumbent works on rotating shifts performing security patrols, traffic control, investigation and first aid at accidents, detection, investigation and arrest of persons involved in crimes or misconduct. Work an assigned shift using own judgment in deciding course of action being expected to handle difficult and emergency situations without assistance.
