SUMMARY:
Plans, develops and implements Tobacco Cessation program in the Tribal community. The successful applicant will work as a liaison between community members and tobacco cessation resources such as the Squaxin Health Clinic, Tobacco Cessation Program, and Behavioral Health; this individual will work to plan, develop, and implement various activities aimed at improving awareness and participation in Tobacco Cessation, education and treatment. This is a grant funded position. A trainee (TS 4) may be considered for this position for an applicant who may not meet the education and experience qualifications but can meet the competencies outlined below.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate as a team member in developing and implementing outreach activities to our community and those we interact with in order to provide education about the harmful health effects of tobacco use on individuals and those around them.
Act as a liaison between the community and Tobacco Cessation activities and groups, including distribution of educational materials and information about available groups, classes and resources.
Promote and participate in scheduled activities at TLC, MLRC, Community Prevention Programs (such as Health Fairs), in order to increase awareness of the harmful health effects of Tobacco products.
Work closely with TLC, MLRC and other tribal programs to increase awareness about the harmful health effects of tobacco use, including cigarettes, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate of Arts Degree ORHigh School Diploma and 2 years of related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a current Washington State Driver’s License and proof of insurance. Please include a copy of your driving abstract, with your application materials.
OTHER:
Must be cleared to work with youth by successfully passing a criminal history background check.
