Dental Assistant
In our office, an orthodontic assistant has a wide variety of responsibilities and opportunities. Primary responsibilities include bringing patients back to the clinic, oral hygiene instruction, placing and removing orthodontic wires under the supervision of the orthodontist, making entries in patient charts, taking photos and x-rays of patients, taking alginate and digital impressions, disinfection of operatories, and sterilization of instruments. Other responsibilities may include answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking payments, keeping track of inventory, and helping with fabrication of orthodontic appliances in the lab. Applicant should enjoy working with people and should have excellent communication skills. They should be dependable and self-motivated. They should be able to work well both individually and as part of a team. Compensation will be dependent on the attitude, work ethic, and skill set of the applicant. Orthodontic experience is not required but a degree or experience in dental assisting is preferred.
