The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Director of Training, Student Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Wellness [R0132163].

 

ROLE of the POSITION

Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is seeking to fill an Assistant Director of Training (ADT) position. CAPS is an IACS-accredited center within the Student Wellness unit that includes the departments of health center, behavioral health, CARE center, wellness education and health promotion, disability resource center, and office of student conduct. This is a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic and integrated service delivery model that offers comprehensive wellness services to a diverse student population. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

The ADT under the direction of the CAPS Director assists in the leadership and management of CAPS.  The ADT collaborates effectively with other members of the CAPS leadership team including the Associate Director of Clinical Services and the Associate Director of Administrative Services. The ADT provides administrative and supervisory oversight for all aspects of CAPS training programs, including the maintenance of the center’s APA-Accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship and practicum program. In fulfilling this role, the ADT is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of doctoral interns and graduate practicum students from academic departments at UNLV. As such, the ADT is expected to oversee the development, interpretation, and execution of training policies and procedures and provide consultative supervision to clinical supervisors. Additionally, the ADT coordinates training schedules, develops specialty clinical rotations with colleagues, and provides direct clinical supervision to trainees as needed.   The ADT conducts ongoing program development, assesses data, and compiles departmental reports as well as those required to maintain accreditation.

This position also requires the provision of clinical services including individual, couples, and group counseling, intake evaluation, crisis assessment and intervention, and outreach programming and consultation services. The AD completes accurate and timely documentation and acknowledges the unique characteristics of each client and provides respectful, professional clinical care to our diverse UNLV population.

This position is considered a healthcare worker and must follow the federal COVID-19 vaccine requirement by providing proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious waiver on file with Human Resources before their start date. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or closely related field from an APA-Accredited academic program at a regionally accredited university. Completion of an APA-Accredited Doctoral Program and Internship is required. Candidates are required to be licensed as a psychologist and eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Nevada within 6 months from the date of hire. All candidates must pass a background screening.  

Candidates are required to have at least two years of related professional experience and at least two years of supervisory/training experience with clinical trainees.

Preferences for this leadership position include (1) clinical and training experience with progressive administrative/supervisory responsibilities; (2) demonstrated experience with supervision and clinical training, preferably with an APA-accredited internship located within an institution of higher education; (3) demonstrated multicultural competence in all areas of service delivery including supervision and training; (4) success in working with a multidisciplinary treatment team; (5) strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention experience, and (6) excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
